Wondrous Wild Watercolors

June 19 – 22, 2018

10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Grades 1 – 5

Teacher: Priscilla Howard

Students will learn a variety of watercolor techniques to paint some of their favorite subjects, as well as how to manipulate watercolors to achieve different effects.  Still life portraits, animals, landscapes, you name it — painting with watercolors is fun!

3-D Art & Stop Motion Animation

Teacher: Melissa Gibson

Students will review the Museum’s collection, particularly sculptures, to inspire their creativity and development of 3-D artworks. They will create characters, settings, and props to make a stop motion animation video.  Students will have a “movie premiere” of their stop motion films on the last day.

Metalsmithing & Jewelry Making

July 17 – 20, 2018

10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Grades 6 – 8

Teacher: Sukey Rankin

Students will learn how to use basic metalsmithing tools, such as a jeweler’s saw to cut out designs, hammers to texturize metal, and files, sandpaper, and pliers to refine metal edges.  Students will be using metal sheets and wire to create metal art such as charms, fobs, pendants, and ornaments.

 

Students will have a lunch break from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Please pack a lunch.  

Summer art camps are $160 for the general public and $150 for Museum Members. Pay with PayPal below or call 301-739-5727 to pay with a credit card.

PLEASE NOTE: All students MUST have a signed waiver form in order to participate in camp. These must be signed by a parent or legal guardian and turned into the museum before the start of the first class. You only need to fill out one waiver per student, even if the student is enrolled in multiple camps. Download the waiver here.
