Cumberland Valley Photographers Exhibition 2025

An annual tradition since the 1930s, the Cumberland Valley Photographers Exhibition showcases, celebrates, and supports artists of the Cumberland Valley region. Each year, hundreds of works are submitted for consideration for inclusion by exhibition jurors. Photographers from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia may enter the competition. A First Place Juror’s Award will be named in both competitions and receive a $1,000 cash award.
This year’s juror is Christopher Gianunzio, an independent curator based in Red Hook, New York. He has held positions as the Fairs and Editions Coordinator at Printed Matter and the Exhibitions and Programming Director of the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center (PPAC), where he founded the Philadelphia Art Book Fair. He has organized exhibitions featuring the work of Lucas Blalock, Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin, Dru Donovan, Alyse Emdur, La Toya Ruby Frazier, Jason Fulford, Greg Halpern, Whitney Hubbs, Christian Patterson, Taryn Simon, Chad States, Carmen Winant, Ofer Wolberger and Stanley Wolukau-Wanambwa. Gianunzio holds an MFA from Syracuse University and is currently a first-year candidate at the Center For Curatorial Studies at Bard College.
Organized by the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, support for the exhibition has been provided by Conservit, Inc., and Delaplaine Foundation, Inc; awards are funded by Jennifer Jones of Cooling Services, Inc.; Hugh and Marty Talton; Nora and Bruce Wilder (Best in Show); Sherry Cramer (Juror’s Awards); Louis Kawaja in honor of Mrs. Mary Helen Strauch; and Washington County Arts Council (Juror’s Awards).
