Thursday, April 13: Jody Long Memorial Dinner and Lecture, 6 p.m. dinner, 7:15 p.m. speaker: Sculptor Tobias Mendez, who lives in Washington County, is nationally renowned for his contributions to the world of public art. Toby will speak on his soon-to-be-completed sculpture of Clara Barton, the first nurse allowed onto a battlefield where she cared for the wounded in the Battle of Antietam in 1862. Toby will share details of his artistic experiences creating this magnificent, timeless work of art, which will soon become part of the Hagerstown Cultural Trail. The cost is $36 for Singer Society and Washington County Museum of Fine Arts members; $40 for general public. Only 100 tickets are available for dinner. Lecture-only tickets are available for free for Singer Society and WCMFA members and $10 for general public.
