Tintype Photography Talk with John Nelson

John Nelson holds a doctoral degree from The University of Maryland School of Medicine. He undertook research but found that it didn’t scratch his itch to be a creative person. As an editor of a magazine, John began making photographs for each issue’s cover and found the way to fulfill his artistic interests. From digital photography, he moved to incorporate film and other analog methods of capturing images. John now refers to himself as a photographic artist because he uses photographic methods as the means to the visual end he wishes to put into the final image. In other words, whatever type of camera one uses and whatever methods are used after the capture of the image, are equally valid as long as the artist can accomplish the goal of bringing the vision to reality.
