Up, Up and Away

Table No. 9 by John D. Miller, Miller Interiors, and Susan Mills

This table celebrates the hot-air balloon, the first successful human-carrying flight technology. The first untethered hot-air balloon flight carrying a human was performed in Paris, France, on November 21, 1783. The first hot air balloon flown in the Americas was launched in Philadelphia on January 9, 1793, by the French aeronaut Jean Pierre Blanchard. Both the French and American flags honor these flights.  The table is decked out in red, white, and blue with Spode “Kensington” fine china.  The goblets are French crystal.

Suggested dress for the special reception: Wear a red, white, and blue outfit to support this table.
