E. O. Hoppé: Women, Nov. 16, 2024-March 18, 2025. These stunning vintage platinum prints showcase more than E. O. Hoppé’s (1878–1972) mastering of portrait photography—they introduce us to a group of women who broke boundaries in the first decades of the 20th century. From the stage (acting and dancing) to the page (writers, composers) to the studio (visual artists), Hoppé’s photographs capture the intensity, individuality, intellect, and charisma of gifted trailblazers like Margot Fonteyn, Käthe Kollwitz, Vita Sackville-West, Theda Bara, and more. From the exhibition’s opening through December, the museum will feature a complementary installation on the life of the museum’s co-founder, Anna Brugh Singer. This exhibition was organized in collaboration with the E.O. Hoppé Estate Collection and is toured by Curatorial Exhibitions, Pasadena, California. Visit wcmfa.org.
